Conversations about friends' costumes was the highlight this morning! The Cardinals enjoyed coming to school all dressed up. Friends playing on the playground in costumes was another exciting highlight. We also enjoyed a special snack which was provided by our home and school friends!
Tuesday
We have been in school for 37 days (trenta y siete) and today the Cardinals did an awesome job of counting in Spanish along with Alicia. The Cardinals also practiced singing Head-N-Shoulders and Mi cuerpo hace música in preparation for our Lower School assembly in two weeks!! To connect with our ongoing conversation on how we are all igual y diferente (same and different) Alicia talked about our clothing. She then read the book called Mary Wears What She Wants. The book was about how many many years ago girls were not allowed to wear pants. However, because of Mary, today anyone can wear what they chose to wear. The Cardinals had many thoughts about what was not nice, fair, kind and making their own choice! Ask your Cardinal what they though about the book! Today it was Lily's turn to squeezed la vaca!
Wednesday
Choice Time
Friends feeding and protecting animals from bad animals.
Today, we worked on our first journal entry for the year. The Cardinals were asked, "What do you like about school?" Friends took turns rotating through the journal, fine motor skills making bracelets and drawing tables. While working on journals, friends drew a picture of what they like about school, followed by some friends giving detailed dictation, while other friends worked with a teacher one on one to begin the process of kid writing. The teacher stretched each word out and friends wrote the letters they heard. Great work Cardinals!!
The Cardinals were creative artists as they worked on part two of the project they started last week. Today, friends used different size and color beads to create the handle for their project. Stay tuned for the next steps!
Thursday
The Cardinals walked into the music room and found their own polka dot space in preparation for the dancing. Friends danced to the song Space Unicorn as they warmed their bodies up for music and movement class. We then warmed our voices up by making low and high notes. Keisha then got her guitar and we sang our hello song, Jambo, followed by us singing and making the movements for Here is the bunny. Keisha gave out bells and the Cardinals began to practice singing and making movements to Bell Horses. As we sang friends galloped, jumped, flew, hopped on one foot and wiggled away. We also started practicing the song Thanks-A-Lot, which we will sing with the whole lower school the day before Thanksgivings in the meetinghouse. Keisha taught us a cheer to celebrate our awesome work in music class called Fantastic. As your Cardinal what was their favorite part of music and movement class.

Friday
After our morning meeting and snack time, we had a class discussion to discuss the possibility of playing Games of all sorts on Fridays. The Cardinals loved this idea and had much to say about it. These cooperative, interactive board and sports games helps to foster turn taking, rule following, concepts of a team playing, memory, independence, cognitive, language and confidence skills. The board games we played today were Candy Land, Snail Pace Race and A Rainbow Fish memory game. Friends played in small groups of four or five. The teachers explained that some Fridays, we may not have Games if other all school participation arises that our class need to attend.
