Monday
Welcome To The First Edition Of Our Weekend News
What is weekend news? It's dictation given by each Cardinal weekly on Mondays after returning to school from the weekend. It's another way for young children to strengthen language skills, develop longer sentence structure, gain skills in recalling and retelling of information, understand sequence of events and to further develop memory skills.
As the weeks and months go by you will see your Cardinal gaining skills in all of the above areas. Some weeks you will notice that your Cardinal had a lot to say while other weeks not so much or the information given maybe from your Cardinal's imagination and this is okay. The purpose of the weekend news is to help foster language development.

Gym class with Josh and Lisa was fun as the Cardinals engaged in, large motor skills, balancing skills, following direction and eye hand coordination skills. Friends did activities with small rings such as spinning, rolling, driving (using the small ring as a steering wheel while following the different line sizes on the gym floor). Ask your Cardinal what was their favorite part of gym class today?
Spanish class with Alicia began with greetings in Spanish, day of the week, new month, date and the hundredth chart. We had lots of chances to practice counting in Spanish! Nice work Cardinals!! We went over the body parts to Head -N- Shoulder in Spanish. The Cardinals are becoming really good with singing this song in Spanish! We played the game Canima (Walk) where we walk around the classroom and then Alicia says para (stop). Alicia called out a word in the song, in Spanish, and the Cardinals had to point to that part on their body. Then it was the Cardinals turn one at a time to try and call a body part in Spanish. The Cardinals were amazing! Today it was Cooper's turn to squeezed la vaca!

School closed for Yom Kippur

Dancing free style to Micheal Jackson's song Black or White was the way the Cardinals began music class today. Followed by a moment of silence and stillness. We then sang our Jambo song in which the Cardinals are doing a great job of singing the words to the song! We sang and did the movements for The Bees when to the Barn with Bagpiper under their Arms. This song entailed counting, following directions and movements all while singing! Keisha gave out egg shakers and the Cardinals shook eggs and then, made a post, jumped, ran, hopped or skipped during the song. We sang our goodbye song and head back to classroom for snack followed by morning meeting.
Playground fun on this sunny day!!

Have a great weekend!
