Tuesday
The Cardinals were very happy to see and be with their Cardinal friends today after the long weekend. Some friends didn't stop to say bye to their love ones as they were eager to get in the classroom and be with their friends!! We heard many conversations such as we wearing the same shirt or about similar clothing, what they had for snack, two friends talked about seeing each other at the supermarket, remember we play this last time, tell your mom and dad you want to come to my house and the list going on!
Alicia greeted us and we joined her on the rug. After a momento de silencio, the Buenos días song, and the numbers on the calendar. Alicia went over the words for the head and shoulders song: - cabeza (head), hombro (shoulders), rodillas (knees), dos pies (two feet), nariz (nose), orejas (ears) and ojos (eyes).
We then did a very fun game in which Alicia calls, Canima (Walk) where we walk around the classroom and then she says para (stop). Alicia would then called out a word in the song, in Spanish, and the Cardinals had to point to that part on their body. The Cardinals were amazing!
We ended class by singing our adios (goodbye) song and today it was Oz's turn to squeezed la vaca.
Josh was absent for our gym time but the Cardinal had their own gym fun! Friends had some time to run around the gym, creating and organizing their own games in groups of three or six friends. As a group we played What time is it Mr Wolf? and Sharks and Minos.
What time is it Mr Wolf?
On our way back from the gym, we saw this display in which we claimed the birds as Cardinal birds!!

Thursday
After our greeting and calendar work in Spanish class, we continued with Alicia guiding us in going over our body parts mentioned in the Head-N-Shoulder song as the Cardinals sang it in Spanish;
Cabeza (head), hombro (shoulders), rodillas (knees), dos pies (two feet),
cabeza (head), hombro (shoulders), rodillas (knees), dos pies (two feet)
ojos (eyes), orejas (ears), boca (mouth), and nariz (nose),
cabeza (head), hombro (shoulders), rodillas (knees), dos pies (two feet).
After, the Cardinals played the swatter game, Alicia placed flashcards on the rug and called a body part in Spanish. Using the matamoscas (fly swatters), two friends at a time worked to find that body part by gently tapping the picture to represent the body part called in Spanish. We ended class by singing our goodbye song and today it was Blaise's turn to squeezed la vaca.
Amanda told us that today we are going to work as artists creating big art. She reminded us that last time we created small art. Amanda told us that we will be making collaborative master pieces with the other EC classes. Amanda explained that collaborative meant working together. The Sparrows used paint sticks and the Catbirds used permanent markers to added their parts. Then it was time for the Cardinals to finish this creative collaborative work by using water paint. Friends mixed colors as they test out which two or three colors make what color such as red and white makes pink or blue and yellow and orange makes brown. Ask your Cardinal what color paints they discovered in art class?
Friday
The Cardinals had a busy start to the day! We had our first lower school assembly for the school year in the auditorium! Followed by music class with Keisha.
Enjoy your weekend!
