Ekin - I went to my playdate with Blaise. We went to the Please Touch Museum and I play everything. Then I went home and eat food and go to sleep.
The Cardinals were very excited as we arrived for gym class today. Josh and Lisa had an amazing obstacle course set up for us.
Tuesday
Amanda told the Cardinals, today we were going to make Mono printing in art class. Amanda explained that Mono means friends' individual paintings will be the only ones in the world, which made friend's artwork very special. The Cardinals used yellow, red and blue paints to paint on plexiglass. Friends then choose which tools they want to use to add details to their work. Next, friends choose any color paper and place it on top of their painting. Friends then rub the top of the paper before picking it up. Wow, it was amazing to see the magic appear.
Wednesday
The Cardinals attended Meeting for worship with their second grade buddies today. It warms our hearts to see the connections and bonds that have been formed amongst these friends. The smiles on faces and hugs as these two groups of friends see each other in the hallways is absolutely priceless. Our many get together for Friday board games or reading time has been fun and in some ways like having big sisters and brothers!
In music class we began by warming up to the song, We Are The Dinosaurs. Friends then marched over to Keisha as she played her guitar and sat down. We sang our Jambo sang and Little cow. Ask your Cardinal to sing these songs for you! Keisha then did the sign language for stand up and friends followed the direction. She then played her guitar and friends sang Wake up sleep heads while acting out the movements such as tippy toe, galloping, walking and laying down to rest. Keisha and the Cardinals sang and acted out the song Mother Sara. The Cardinals and Keisha were in stitches and giggling the whole time. What a fun time!!
The Cardinals have been working on mathematics and today we had a mathwork shop in which all the activities were math related. Friends worked one-on-one doing math with teachers and at tables or on the rug with activities. We will continue this work tomorrow.
Thursday
The AFS community will be observing the Day of Silence tomorrow. During Spanish class today, Alicia read the book "Jaime is Jaime" by Afsaneh Moradian. The book is about being yourself and embracing who you are. Friends had much to say and after the read aloud. Today it was Riley's turn to squeezed la vaca.
Friday
After our lower school assembly, snack time, morning meeting and small group work, we went outside for an early recess. Some friends wanted to stay outside while some wanted to have our Friday board games. We voted as a class and 5 friends wanted to stay outside, while 9 friends wanted to have Friday Fun Board Games. In this case, we did what both groups wanted to do. Friends worked together to choose which 4 games to play. Ask your Cardinal which game (s) they played and what they liked about the game (s)?
Enjoy your weekend!
