Today, we had the author of the book, Reflection of me, Candace Robertson-James come to AFS to read her book to us. Candace said, "I wrote this book because I wanted everyone to know how special they are".  The book is about loving, acceptance and believing in yourself. Candace told friends that they are all superheroes and have super powers. She continued to ask each friend, "What is your super power and how would you use it?" Here are some of what the Cardinals had to say, "giving hugs, being kind, sharing, being nice to everyone, drawing pictures for friends and cleaning up". Ask your Cardinal what his/her super powers are?

Each Cardinal got a small bucket and a tennis ball in gym class. Josh demonstrated activities the Cardinals could do such as bounce the ball on the floor and catch it with the bucket. Putting the bucket on the floor and rolling the ball into it for a distance. Working with two or three friends or balancing the ball on top of the bucket while walking. Josh also told friends they could come up with their own creations.

On our way back to lower school, we passed through the upper school's senior hallway and saw this lightning McQueen car which the Cardinals instantly wanted to investigate. Brie invited each Cardinal to sit in the car and this brought friends much joy!

Tuesday

The questions of the day which are created by the Cardinals, recently have been about food and cooking. After talking with the Cardinals we decided to make English Muffins pizza for snack today. Each friend decided how they wanted to make their own personalized pizza, with cheese, sauce or sauce and cheese. We put our pizza in the oven and off to art class the Cardinals went.

In art class we explored mixing primary water colors and then used our creation to paint.

Back in the classroom, friends were very excited to eat their warm personalized pizza. Each Cardinal had two helpings, yummy!! Ask your Cardinal how they made their own pizza?

After our special snack, we painted our Cardinal's Cotton Airline. Friends were excited to begin this process. We geared up in smocks and began our work. The class was divided into two groups of seven and each group painted.

Wednesday

After snack time we started working on our April self-portraits.

Keisha met us at the music room door, we began class by dancing and warming up to the song  La Mariposa (The Butterfly) which is on the World  Playground.

We sang our Hello and Little Wheel in my Heart song. The Cardinals  then began practicing for our Spring program. Followed by Keisha introducing a new song called Fetch the Cows. Friends did movements and actions to this song such as galloping, resting, skipping and laying down. We then did Jack in the Box, in which friends try to put their bodies into a ball as Keisha played the drums and sang. Friends then listened carefully for the different beats on the drum and did the motions such as huddling by themselves, popping out and jumping up. Great work Cardinals following many directions!

Thursday

After our greetings in Spanish, the Cardinals went over the basic shapes. Alicia handed out a very creative shape book, she made for all the Cardinals. This book will come home with your Cardinal today. Thank you, Alicia! Alicia then told the Cardinals that we will be learning the parts of airplanes in Spanish. This will be great to connect to our Cardinal's Cotton Airline in Spanish.

We attached the control buttons and the flying switch to the cockpit of our Cardinal's Cotton Airline.

Friends working together to figure out how to hold and maneuver this large piece of paper from the art room back to our classroom.
Nice work friends!!

The Cardinals enjoying a picnic lunch!

Friday

The Cardinals engaged in a science experiment today. Friends chose the color they wanted and created their own Lava lamp in which they mixed oil, water, food coloring and a Alka - Seltzer tablet.
