Weekend News
Oz - I watch the new Avatar movie. I fostered a dog and we went to New Jersey to give it to it forever home. The dog was super sad and so they invited me over to make him feel better.
Jackson - My mom and dad come back home. I play hot wheels with my brother. I play with my iguana name Transformer. I eat some Salmon and potatoes.
Adam - I play CandyLand in my bed with my daddy. I ran to the 21 tree and I had to water them. I went to Burger King and I eat some food.
Today, we had the author of the book, Reflection of me, Candace Robertson-James come to AFS to read her book to us. Candace said, "I wrote this book because I wanted everyone to know how special they are". The book is about loving, acceptance and believing in yourself. Candace told friends that they are all superheroes and have super powers. She continued to ask each friend, "What is your super power and how would you use it?" Here are some of what the Cardinals had to say, "giving hugs, being kind, sharing, being nice to everyone, drawing pictures for friends and cleaning up". Ask your Cardinal what his/her super powers are?
Tuesday
The questions of the day which are created by the Cardinals, recently have been about food and cooking. After talking with the Cardinals we decided to make English Muffins pizza for snack today. Each friend decided how they wanted to make their own personalized pizza, with cheese, sauce or sauce and cheese. We put our pizza in the oven and off to art class the Cardinals went.
In art class we explored mixing primary water colors and then used our creation to paint.
Back in the classroom, friends were very excited to eat their warm personalized pizza. Each Cardinal had two helpings, yummy!! Ask your Cardinal how they made their own pizza?
Wednesday
We sang our Hello and Little Wheel in my Heart song. The Cardinals then began practicing for our Spring program. Followed by Keisha introducing a new song called Fetch the Cows. Friends did movements and actions to this song such as galloping, resting, skipping and laying down. We then did Jack in the Box, in which friends try to put their bodies into a ball as Keisha played the drums and sang. Friends then listened carefully for the different beats on the drum and did the motions such as huddling by themselves, popping out and jumping up. Great work Cardinals following many directions!
Thursday
After our greetings in Spanish, the Cardinals went over the basic shapes. Alicia handed out a very creative shape book, she made for all the Cardinals. This book will come home with your Cardinal today. Thank you, Alicia! Alicia then told the Cardinals that we will be learning the parts of airplanes in Spanish. This will be great to connect to our Cardinal's Cotton Airline in Spanish.
Friday
The Cardinals engaged in a science experiment today. Friends chose the color they wanted and created their own Lava lamp in which they mixed oil, water, food coloring and a Alka - Seltzer tablet.
Have a wonderful weekend!
