Happy Birthday, Blaise!
We had Library class with Ashanti, in which she read us the books, The Gruffalo's Child and a mindful book called Mr Sloth. The Cardinals then chose and checked out a book to bring back to our classroom. Back in our classroom, friends had many requests for teachers to read their newly checked out books!
Tuesday
Alicia told the Cardinals how proud she was of their work on stage last Friday at our lower school assembly! We then started class by going over what Mary liked to wear from the previous read aloud "Mary wears what she wants to wear" which was pantalón (pants) and that Julián (from the book, "Julián is a Mermaid") liked to wear falda (skirt). After, Alicia read us the book Max and the Talent Show which was about Max and her friend Steven who was not being allowed to buy the clothes he wanted and Max supporting him in being who he wants to be. The Cardinals were very expressive at the end of the book. They had many opinions and facts about being fair and unfair and how there is no boy clothes or girl clothes but clothes we like to wear. Today it was Sidney's turn to squeezed la vaca.
Back in our classroom, we had snack time before working in small groups with Erica our Lower school reading specialist, Zomaira and Beverly. Friends did a rotation with Zomaira and Beverly as they worked on recognizing uppercase letters by stepping on a letter as it was called by a teacher. If friends recognized the letter that was called, then they made that letter sound. Friends also said a word or two that began with they letter. Other friends worked on rhyming, matching upper and lowercase letters and letter sorting in pairs of two with Erica.
We heading off to the gym to create our own gym time because Josh and Lisa are traveling to be with their families for thanksgiving! The Cardinals did a lot of running and played games!
Wednesday
Early this morning the Cardinals headed over to the meetinghouse along with all the lower school students and teachers. We all gather and settle into silences and at the end of our silences Raji played his guitar and Keisha helped us all sing our part of the Thanks-A-Lot song. It felt so wonderful being all together and singing this amazing song!
