Monday
The Cardinals engaging in morning choice time after completing their morning jobs of helping to put away their lunch boxes and water bottles. Followed by washing hands, signing in and answering the question of the day!
After morning meeting and snack time it was time for gym class with Josh and Lisa. Today we did many fun explorations with hola hoops. Josh demonstrated how to shimmy the hola hoop without letting it get stuck on our bodies, how to roll the hola hoops across the gym, how to spin the hola hoops in one place and how to walk the hola hoops from one end of the gym to the other with our feet. After Josh demonstrate each objective with the hola hoops, the Cardinals got a chance to explore the skill! It takes practice, focus, eye hand coordination, patiences and balance to try to performed each task. Great work Cardinals!!
This morning in Spanish class, Alicia began by having a momento de silencio and sang the Buenos días song.
Buenos días amigos, buenos días. Buenos días, ¿cómo están?Estoy bien, amigos estoy bien. Estoy bien y tu, y tu, y tu, y tu, y tu. Y yo, y el y ella y nosotros.
(Good morning, friends, good morning. Good morning how are you? I am good, friends, I am good. I am good and you, and you, and you, and you, and you. And I, and he and she and us.) Then we repeated after Alicia while counting the numbers on the calendar up to 20 ( uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez, once, doce, trece, catorce, quince, dieciséis, diecisiete, diciocho, diecinueve, and veinte). We then started learning the words in Spanish to the song head shoulders, knees and toes. Today it was Angeline's turn to squeezed la vaca!
We told the Cardinals that after snack time. We will began working on their September self-portraits. What are self-portraits - Each month the Cardinals work in small groups and individually draw their own self-portraits. Friends look in mirrors to take a closer look at the details that make up their features such as hair, lips and eye color and how many ears they have. Friends learned where these details are located on their bodies and how to translate these important details on to paper. As the school year progresses, it is truly amazing to see how these drawings evolve from simple stick drawings to faces and bodies filled with color and details. Friends also gain insight as to the beauty of themselves and do not need to rely on a mirror.
Wednesday
Outdoor Fun!!
Thursday
Music class with Keisha began with the Cardinals dancing to the song Getting your body moving. Friends dipped, pushed, bouncing, reached and pulled as they get warmed up for music and movement class! We continued by singing Jambo (our hello song). We sang hello in a languages such as Spanish (hola), French (Bon jour Mes amies) and Jambo (Swahili). Friends then sang and did the movement for the song They is a Cobbler Down the Street. Keisha got her guitar and the Cardinals stood up and clapped, rolled our hands, marched in placed, fly around while moving arms, twirling, and jumped as they sing and dance with Keisha. What a fun time the Cardinals had in music class!! Ask your Cardinal what they liked about music class?
